Alienation

Psychics should suffer for their abilities. Again, these aren't "cool powers" that you developed and now use willy-nilly to make your life better. Psychic powers are double-edged swords at best, and curses upon your life at worst. If you have a high Telekinetic skill, explain how your abilities going off have alienated you from their friends and family; if Telepathy is the focus, perhaps you find it hard to be around large groups of people due to the "noise" around you. While there may be no negative mechanical effect listed under a power, you should still RP the theme of the game, and part of that theme is that Psychic abilities have pushed your character away from normal society and set them apart, forcing them into the supernaturally rich shadows.

Psychics are people gifted with enhanced mental capabilities such as precognition. These powers, unlike magic, are not inherited, instead these gifts appear at random, developing around the time of puberty. These gifts are also very difficult to control, causing the psychic more pain and grief than good. A psychic, with practice and experience, can learn to recognize a witch or inhuman being by their 'aura', an energy that is unique to individuals.

Weaknesses

While psychics are mortal and are open to the same dangers as a normal human, there are some things in the supernatural world that hamper and weaken them as well. There are also things, people and beasts that exist that can do them harm.

  • Fear: A distressing emotion aroused by impending danger, evil, pain, etc., whether the threat is real or imagined; the condition or feeling of being afraid could cause a psychic to temporarily lose their powers or lose control of them.
  • Mortality: Based off the fact that psychics are still (more or less) human, they share many of the same weaknesses as non-supernatural beings (e.g. age, decapitation, disease, heart-failure, suffocation, etc.)
  • Overuse Of Powers: The excessive use of a psychic talent could lead to several ailments such as nosebleeds, headaches, fainting and in extreme cases death.
  • Demons: A Demon is a malevolent creature which can possess the bodies of anything human (this includes witches and psychics alike). While demons do have their own powers and prefer witches as vessels, a psychic has been known to do in a pinch. Because of their sensitivity to the world around them, Psychics are very weak against demonic attacks.
  • Ghosts: A ghost is the soul or spirit of a deceased person who can appear in a visible manifestation to the living.
