Vive la Viv

It's almost like Forks, Washington around here, the sky is overcast and it's chilly out. Fall. School is out for the day for the most part, the classes Meadow had were earlier and she's been at work at the Firehouse the rest of her afternoon. It's almost quitting time for her, the relief would be in shortly, so she's checking the clock every few minutes, checking over the only three tables that are occupied by customers. Food is delivered and the general feeling she gets from the customers is contentment, so she's not rushing around.

At one table is a little family of three, the baby much too small to eat real food but the parents are having hot wings. At another is a man sitting solo, a jacket pulled on around him and he keeps looking around a little fervently as he eats his burger. Another is a large table with a boisterous family and it seems quesadillas and fajitas were the fare of the day.

Just another day at the Firehouse.

Elliot makes his way in, backpack over his shoulder. Somehow he just knows the days that Meadow works. Convenient, or stalker? You be the judge. He's shown to a table by Becky, who continues to smile at him despite the fact that he didn't call her. He takes a look at the menu, possibly contemplating something other than his usual plate.

The front door is pulled open and another customer enters the building, shortly after Elliot. Vivica steps inside, letting the door close behind her as she adjusts the messenger bag that is strapped across her torso. She pauses for a few moments, taking in the sights and sounds of the grill before she turns her attention to the customers at the tables, checking to see if they're anyone she knows. Not recognizing anyone, she turns her gaze away from them and moves to find an empty place to sit, off to the side. She doesn't seem to notice Elliot as she makes herself comfortable in her seat.

Coming out of the back, not the kitchen persay, as he has a back pack with books over a shoulder, Samuel makes his way into the area as well, near the bar, and pickup window probably (if there is one). He walks near towards Meadow, "Busy day?" As he looks over the gathering, noticing a certain new arrival, that Becky was looking at, he grins and chin nods to the fellow that just arrived. "Oh look, another table, curious …" Then of course another entry, "Or two, want any help out here? Or need a break?" Cause a certain someone is here. "I can take the newest, if you like?" She can still decide on a break too, or see if Elliot needs something. After Meadow responds, he heads for Vivica, "Hey, welcome. Have you been here before?"

A lifted hand captures her attention and after Meadow brings another bowl of salsa to the fajita table, she returns just in time to see her brother coming out of the back. "Hey," her smile is bright and she bumps her shoulder gently against his. "Not really too bad. Big party over there but they are about finished, I think." When he mentions the other tables, she looks to the new patrons and then back to her brother. "Becky has it bad for him," she nods towards the other waitress who had shown Elliot to a seat. "Sure though, you take the new face and I'll take Elliot unless Becky pounces first." She grins, "Welcome to the Firehouse," she tosses out to Vivica on the way by her to Elliot. "Hey, your usual?" Steak tips. Almost every time.

Elliot looks up and smiles as Meadow arrives. "Hey." he says, warmly. "Chicken Parm, this time. Garlic bread. How're you?" He asks, simply and calmly. He looks over as Vivica arrives, and chuckles as everyone treats her as someone new. "Vivi will have a salad, with crabmeat, and a freshly made wine vinaigrette." he says loudly for Sam and Vivica to hear, joking, expecting his cousin to recognize his voice.

Vivica looks up to Meadow as she speaks to her, offering a slight smile. "Thank you." She offers before her attention is turned to Samuel, offering a smile. "No, can't say I have…" She offers, beginning to say something else, but is stopped as she hears Elliot, an eyebrow raising slightly as his voice is processed then recognized. She lets out a slight laugh and shakes her head. "Elliot can have a water and bread." She offers, her voice just as loud. "He's watching his girlish figure. Swimsuit season is just around the corner." She offers with a slight chuckle before she looks up at Samuel again. "Just some time to look over the menu, please." She offers before she moves to stand up to go greet her cousin.

That saves some effort, Elliot and Vivica seem to know one another, leaving Sam to grin as the taunt each other a little about what the other should eat. A chuckle from him at their exchange, curious look about the swimsuit season being around the corner, "If you're getting ready for swimsuit season, I don't think I want to know how cold it is where you're from." Another chuckle even, "Sure, take your time, let me know if you need a drink." He moves away to let them reunite, earshot if there is a drink needed. He does look at Meadow, curious brow lifted, as if she might know this curious face, seeing as her and Elliot have been hanging out from what he hears.

Pulling out her order pad from her apron, Meadow jots down his request. "What to drink?" Looking at him with an expectant smile, she lifts a single shoulder. "I'm doing well, classes were good today, work is almost over for the day." There's a glance back to Samuel and Vivica as an order is placed for her by Elliot. Unaware of the familial connection, she laughs softly at their teasing of each other. "Bread and water it is." Still, she lets Samuel deal with the taking of the order of Vivica as she joins Elliot. She hooks an arm through Sam's so he doesn't get too far away. "Sammy, what's this I hear about you and dates?"

Elliot thinks. "Coke is fine." He looks to Vivica. "Hey cuz. Back in town or have you been hiding with Gram and Gramps?" He asks, meaning the heads of the Callahan Clan. "The Gate's been rather sparse without you. Of course, it's fall, so.." he shrugs. "You're back in time for Christmas Tree season." he says, with fake happiness. He looks to Meadow. "How's that Ivy? Still good?" He asks, not asking about her rom or anything else that might set Samuel off.

Vivica thinks for a moment, looking back to Samuel. "Can I get a Dr. Pepper?" She asks as she smiles before she gives Elliot a hug and a quick peck on the cheek. "Hey cuz." She offers back in response. "I'm actually back with the folks until I can find my own place. Back for college and all that, so I'm around for a while. Back at The Gate too, so it won't be as sparse." She says with a smirk. "You're looking taller than I remember. You hit your growth spurt yet?" She asks with a playful smirk, taking a seat at his table.

"Sure thing, I'll grab that," the Dr. Pepper. Samuel turns to go get it, and hooked arm with sister gives him something to do while filling drink orders. Moving with her, he'll probaly fill both the coke and the Dr. Pepper. "What, dates …" Raising a brow, curious grin though on his face as he looks more at Meadowlark, "Depends, what you heard … if it was the Brewfest, no names where named, but I met up with someone there. We just ended up walking away from the festival to talk." But there might be someone else involved it would seem.

"Coke it is," Meadow echoes pretty much the same that she did when he ordered the chicken parm. "The ivy is flourishing nicely just where you hung it up, the sun finds it every morning." Hearing about Vivica's return, she studies her, realizing she may just look somewhat familiar, but not wanting to intrude on their reunion. "We'll be right back." She's whisked away by her brother for the drinks. Unaware of the second one, she lofts a brow. "Who is she?" Them? Curious.. curious.

Elliot grins to Vivica. "Awesome. It's good to have you back. Claud's… well.. she's starting school too. She'll be happy to see you, I guess. She doesn't really deal with the Callahan side of the family much." He shrugs. "You might get some classes together." He chuckles and listens. "Yeah, I grew a bit. I'm 20 now." She smiles as Meadow and Sam walk off, eyes lingering perhaps a bit too long then turns back to Vivica. "So.. it'll be nice to have another set of hands around the garden center. Stock is down, but Gramps has me working on or private garden, learning how to winterize some of the herbs. We could be in for a pretty crazy winter."

Vivica smiles and chuckles, glancing back to were Meadow and Samuel disappear to before she looks back to Elliot. "Oh yeah?" She asks upon hearing about Claudia. "That's good of her. What about you? You going to school too?" She asks, tilting her head slightly. "That would be good, especially since it might be weird being a 26 year old Freshman." She says with a soft chuckle. "Well, thank you for picking up the slack at the store. Listen to Gramps and Mema. They know a lot and taught me everything I know about gardening and herbs."

Getting two glasses, ice and filling them with the requested drinks, Samuel eyes his sister a moment. "Its Amelia," he says, finising topping one, moving the spout to the next, pushing the right button. "Wasn't so much a date," as in go out, do something planned, well sort of planned, "I guess, we agreed to go, then spent the timt walking and getting to know each other better over at the park." City park that is, as he hands over the coke to her, for Elliot. "How is that Ivy going, something I should know about?" The topic of her and Meadowlark, she can tell he's teasing, he'll talk more serious if he thinks too, but he can tease a little as they head back with drinks.

"Amelia.." Meadow gives him a knowing smile, she had wondered… "I think that she's perfect for you, she's so sweet and everyone loves her like they love you." Of course with Sammy, she's biased, brother and all. Reaching out, she takes the coke and grabs two wrapped straws. "The ivy? I bought one and asked Elliot to hang it in my room, he found the right place and everything. It looks beautiful there." Turning with him, she walks back towards the table, not turning in the order yet so that they can get his cousins order and turn them in at the same time.

Elliot nods. "Sophomore. As a matter of fact, I had a History exam this morning." He nods. "Oh!" he thinks, "You wanna join me?" He looks to the Bates sibs. "It won't mess you guys up if she joins me, will it?" He asks, not knowing the inner mechanics of working the restaurant. He doesn't hear any of the discussion about Amelia or of Meadow's room. "I do listen to them. They've taken me under their wing. Taught me all sorts of things with herbs and… whatnot." He says, casting a gaze at his cousin, wondering if she has the same 'gift' that he has.

Vivica raises an eyebrow at hearing he's a sophomore. She can't help but let out a laugh at the idea of her younger cousin being an upper classman compared to herself. "Well, that's good to hear. Hope you did well on your exam." She says with a smile before she glances to the others as they head back, offering a smile as she looks to Elliot again. "What's good here?" She asks as she sees the drinks on their way back to the table.

"You think," grins Samuel to his sister, he'll hip bump, cause he's sure she won't drop the drink when he does that. "Yeah, I think she's sweet too, it was just fun, talking with her. And her hand seems to fit mine, so can't argue that logic either right?" Heading for the cousins, he nods about the ivy, "Just the one then, no more ivy to buy?" He might be curiuos of his take on his sister relating to Elliot, not pressuring so much as a tease for now. Then they get near the table, "No problem at all Elliot, you two are good for it." Cause they're personally doing it and not a helper, that and its not too busy with only four tables now. "Here's your Dr. Pepper." Hopefully not interrupting, not knowing cousins yet, he asks, "So who do you two know each other?"

Meadow takes the hip bump in stride, smiling up at her brother as she imagines the two holding hands. "I think Marty won't mind either, do you?" That's the only concern. At the further questioning of the ivy, she laughs and shakes her head. "No more Ivy. I wanted something green in my room. I am waiting for Christmas then I am getting Poinsetta's to decorate around the tree I intend on putting in that corner over there." She nods towards it. "Are you going to help me get ready for it when the time comes?" Meadow loves winter and Christmas and she had always enjoyed Sam sharing it with her. As he answers Elliot, she just gives him a reassuring smile instead of answering also. Placing the drink in front of Elliot, she smiles at him, though it's Vivica she looks at now. "Whenver you're ready, I'll just put the orders in at the same time so you don't have to watch him eat."

Elliot nods to Vivica. "I did. I do pretty good. I know how to give the professors what they need." At the question, he smirks, blushing, not going with a cheesy answer. "Everything, really. My personal favorite is the steak tips, but I'm grabbing the chicken parmigiana with the spaghetti today." he nods in thanks to Sam and Meadow. "Cool. I didn't want to mess up your mechanics, though Becky might be a bit put off." He winks. He looks to Sam and chuckles, a look to Meadowlark as well. "She's my cousin. Part of the Callahan line." He says to the sibs, trying to explain a family connection. He takes the drink and smiles. "Thanks." He says, to Meadow.

Vivica smirks and nods. "Well, that just runs in the family." She says with a grin before she looks to Sam and takes the drink. "Thank you." She offers before she looks to Meadow. "Thanks. I'll have the steak tips, I suppose. If he likes it, might as well try them out." She offers with a smile. "And the firehouse salad without olives, please." As she's introduced, she offers another smile and a wave to the two. "I'm Vivica. Nice to meet you both." She offers before she looks to Elliot. "Who's Betty? Your girlfriend?" She asks, an eyebrow raised slightly.

"What, of course I'll help, I'd be upset if you did it without out me," returns Samuel to his sister, "You have the whole tree planned out, or do I get to add some decorations to it?" It is going up out in the restuarant, she might indeed have a vision in mind for it, and he would be good going with that too. "Ah, cousins … Callahan line." More directed at Elliot with that question, but half turned to Vivica as well. "Pleasure's mine, I'm Samuel, one of the Bates. Aside from my sister, there are two others. Are you staying around at all, maybe coming up to the cabin?" A look to Elliot, as he did mention Callahan line. He doesn't introduce Meadow so she can do that herself. "Good choice, the steak tips, one of my favorites."

Meadow looks amused when Elliot mentions Becky, but she doesn't look over at the other waitress, not wanting to hurt her feelings or anything. "It's nice meeting you Vivica. I'm Meadow Bates. How long ago did you move away from town?" While she talks, she writes down the order, trying not to laugh at the question aimed at Elliot abut Becky. Tearing off the top paper of the order pad, the one she had written on, she repockets the pad and smiles at Samuel. "I need your help planning it with me, we just have to put the poinsettia up where kids can't reach and they are away from food because they are poisonous." She smiles at the other two again, "I'll just go turn this in, be right back." She turns and sashays back towards the window.

Elliot laughs. "This is Vivica." He says, allowing her to explain how she's connected to the Callahan line if she wants to. He smirks and chokes. "Becky. She works here.. and no, she's not my girlfriend. Not due to a lack of trying, though." He grins. "That role is currently empty." He says to Vivica, and in front of Samuel before he gets any ideas. He shrugs at Samuel's unasked question, not knowing if Vivica shares the same gifts as everyone in the room. "I… didn't tell her about the party yet. I just ran into her." He waves as Meadow leaves, again, looking at her before he turns to Sam. "I already put in the order for extra poinsettias. If you need anything else, let me know and I'll put the order through."

Vivica smiles as she looks to Samuel, nodding her head. "Yeah. I'm staying with my folks for now. Hoping to get out on my own and find my own place to live soon." She says with a soft laugh, though the question of the cabin causes her to raise an eyebrow. "What's happening at the cabin?" She asks, glancing to those around her, not having heard anything about it. She looks to Elliot as he stands up and heads to take a phone call outside before returning her attention to Sam since Meadow is putting in the orders.

"What, poinsettia's are poisonous … really. Yeah, definitely out of reach of the kids. Thanks Meadow," returns Sam to his sister, thankful when she goes to put the order in, he'd probably do something wrong and have to explain it later. He gives a wave to Elliot as the boy parts, no comments on Becky, he's not aware of that situation. Though, turning back to Vivica he grins. "I took advice recently, staying with folks is free, use it while you can." Or at least for Samuel, then again, he tends bar a lot of nights down here in the restuarant too, so maybe not so free after all. "Just a little get together, I didn't know if Elliot had mentioned it. Callahan's an old name around here, and your his cousin …" So there may have been some assumptions, not sure how close the cousins where or not even.

Vivica is at a table, set for two it would seem, but one person missing. Samuel is nearby talking to her, while Meadowlark has taken a ticket order to put it in for food for Vivica and company that had to step away.

Ashton has followed her nose or her stomach - she is in search of food. The door closes behind her as she stands just inside it, looking for a place to sit. A couple of locals stop to chat with her on their way out and she rehashes her story of returning home to work and raise her unborn child. And yes, it is nice to be home. And no, the father won't be joining her any time soon. After taking a steadying breath once she is on her own again, Ashton walks to an empty table not far from where Vivaca is sitting.

Vivica nods her head a bit and thinks as she takes in the information that is given about the cabin. "Hrm. Elliot hadn't mentioned it, but then again, I haven't seen him before today." She offers with a smile, looking back in the direction that he went before she looks back to Sam. "But yeah, sounds like fun. I'll stop by if I can." She offers with a smile. "We haven't really talked much since I left. Being gone for about fifteen years does tend to do that to anyone." She offers with a soft laugh.

"Ah, that explains it too," the just getting back today, and the look Samuel received from Elliot with his slight curiousity about the cabin to begin wtih. "Fifteen years, does it look the same at all since then, or where you too young to remember any of that?" The town, and such he means. Then Ashton is nearby sitting down. He turns and waves a greeting, "Hey, there's a friendly face. Anything I can get you Ashton, or need a moment to decide?" Including drink of course. Which he'll be happy to fetch from the bar. Whoah to anyone who has her table, he's not writing it on the tab even.

As she shrugs off her coat, Ashton smiles over at Samuel and also Vivica too. "Afternoon. I'll have some milk when you get a chance and a nice cheeseburger, everything on it - oh and avocado on it too." She settles down, making herself comfortable and pushes her hair back away from her face. Immediately her gaze skims around the room, seeking out faces familiar and unfamiliar.

Vivica considers things for a few moments before she looks up to Sam again and smiles. "Well, there's some stuff that I see that looks the same as I remember it but, overall, the majority of things have changed in one way or another. The town does seem a bit bigger than it was, but it's still refreshing to be back."
