Located in the heart of the beautiful Kittitas National Forest, historic Haven Point is home to year-round recreational activities, numerous events, excellent shopping and dining, and a variety of performing and visual arts. This community has become a popular hub for water sports due to its comfortable distance to Kittitas Reservoir. From golf and fly fishing to river rafting and horseback riding, nature lovers migrate to and from this destination yearly. Contributing to its popularity, locals and tourists to Haven Point enjoy near perfect weather and four distinct seasons.

Haven Point's historic district offers a wide variety of cultural activities, shops, pubs and restaurants, while Haven Point University draws a steady stream of plays, concerts, operas, films, and lectures year round. But the town is best known for hosting the Haven Point Rodeo and Haven Point Town Fair, the largest rodeo in northeastern Massachusetts and a tradition since 1923.

  • The Ugly Side: The draw to the area is certainly not entirely thanks to the environment. Prone to bouts of thick, unexplainable fog, traffic can often to a crawl. Another negative factor is the high crime rates within the city. Haven Point rates as the #4 city for missing person cases and #4 in murders for unsolved murders in the state. Despite this, enrollment at the University is at an all-time high as students flood from all over the country to study within these hallowed halls.
  • Back to Nature: The city gives way to the forests to the south and west. And while the locals make use of the vast stretch of wilderness, the first rivals the city for in dangers. Many unsolved murders have taken place here, along with several fatal animal attacks. Hikers are warned of the dangers of wandering into the deep woods.

Kittitas Campground & Reservoir

Construction on the Kittitas Reservoir began in 1964. After it'scompletion, the campground and hiking trails were added and the area quickly became one of south Massachusetts' most beautiful and enjoyed man-made lakes.
